Clinique de l’image du corps — Du vécu au concept

Dunod, 3rd edition

Body image is a concept that reflects certain archaic links between the body and the psyche. It takes shape early in life and matures in conjunction with somatic development. Certain psychiatric conditions reveal it to be fixated at those earliest stages of life. In this third edition, the author further refines the concept of body image, drawing consistently on theories of human emotional development and findings from neuroscience. Additional archaic phenomena are introduced to round out the description of body image. Furthermore, Spitz’s concept of the "organizer" is revisited, and a definition of psychomotor therapy has been added. This original work is unique in its precise definition of body image, its synthesis of current knowledge, and its exploration of concrete therapeutic applications.

Clinique de l’originel — Du vécu au concept

Dunod, 2024

This book examines the delicate question of the traces retained by the infant from the perinatal period (spanning from late pregnancy to the postnatal phase). These traces constitute a form of memory that eludes conventional recollection. Individuals with autism manifest these traces more "visibly" than the general population. Naturally, these are not memories in the ordinary sense, but rather the persistence of early bodily states, sensations, and emotions stemming from what Éric W. Pireyre terms the "originary" period. Recent insights from neuroscience shed light on this phenomenon. These traces—originating in the final stages of intrauterine life and the initial stages of life in the outside world—are not specific to autism but are common to all human beings. Incorporating them into psychomotor therapy can offer innovative avenues for understanding. Drawing on the lived experiences of patients in psychomotor therapy sessions and his own experience as an educator in the field, the author presents a work of great theoretical and clinical richness. The book focuses on the complex interplay between the organism and the psyche, as well as on autism and human emotional development.

Cas pratiques en psychomotricité

Dunod

How does one practice the profession of psychomotor therapist? How does one conceptualize it? How does one explain it to others? How does one make it one's own? This book provides psychomotor therapists with the tools to reflect on the profession beyond their highly specialized clinical practice. Its aim is to show psychomotor therapists engaging physically, psychologically, and emotionally in their work, to hear them speak with their patients, and to understand their reasoning and successes, as well as their doubts, questions, and setbacks. To provide a comprehensive picture of the profession, the sixteen texts are arranged chronologically—from infancy to old age—and illustrate the variety of indications and treatment techniques.

This book aims to demonstrate the diversity and therapeutic value of the psychomotor approach across a wide range of sectors (geriatrics, pediatrics, education). It also outlines the specific aspects of the profession—such as the psychomotor therapist's day-to-day work and their role as an educator—as well as how the practice complements other therapies like osteopathy and speech therapy. The book’s richness stems from the insights shared by psychomotor therapists actively working in the field, offering professionals valuable support for their own practice.

Autisme, corps et psychomotricité — Approches plurielles

Dunod, 2019

Psychomotor therapy plays a crucial role in the treatment of children with autism. This innovative book addresses key themes regarding the mind-body relationship in children with autism through the presentation and analysis of clinical vignettes. The contributing authors bring diverse experiences and theoretical frameworks (including CBT, integrative, and neuroscientific approaches). The goal is to demonstrate the richness and variety of contemporary psychomotor practices. Emphasizing an interdisciplinary perspective, the book highlights how different psychomotor approaches complement one another. Furthermore, the case-study format keeps the focus on the child, allowing for a comparison of different clinical viewpoints. With Eric Pireyre, Sylvie Gadesaude, Julie Lobbé, Bernard Meurin, and Tiphanie Vennat.

Les liens corps esprit — Regards croisés à partir de cas cliniques

Dunod, 2014

Who has not, upon touching another person's body, wondered where one's own body ends and the other's begins? Mentally shifting between the sensations of "touching" and "being touched"— without altering the physical positions of either body—reveals both the boundary and the connection between body and mind. Yet, the question of how the mind is united with the body and communicates with others is not the concern of philosophers alone; It engages professionals ranging from neurophysiologists and psychomotor therapists to psychoanalysts and psychiatrists—all of whom must decipher the human enigma to understand suffering and how to alleviate it. This work attempts to break down disciplinary silos. It relies on pooling expertise and experience to rethink the relationship between mind and body, as well as the subjective and intersubjective connections that arise from it. Five distinct perspectives converge to move beyond the impasse of binary conceptual oppositions (mind-body, organic-psychic, physical-mental, etc.), exploring seven themes introduced through unique case histories and clinical situations: • perception • emotion • movement • pain • pleasure • memory • empathy.
